Premium Protection for your Jumia Delivery shipments to Côte d’Ivoire!

Dear Jumia Sellers,

At Jumia Delivery, we understand that some of your shipments hold special value or are of great importance. To provide you with more options and greater peace of mind when shipping within Côte d’Ivoire, we are pleased to introduce Premium Protection, an optional service for your Jumia Delivery parcels.

What is Premium Protection?
Premium Protection is an optional service you can choose for your Jumia Delivery shipments for an additional fee. It offers enhanced coverage for your parcel against loss or damage during handling by Jumia Delivery, going beyond our standard liability. This service is designed to provide extra security when shipping items that require a higher level of protection.

Why consider Premium Protection for my shipments?

Choosing Premium Protection offers several key benefits, especially when shipping high-value or critical items:

  • Greater Peace of Mind: Knowing your shipment is covered by additional financial protection allows you to ship valuable goods with more confidence.

  • Better Financial Coverage: Premium Protection offers better compensation in case of an incident, compared to our standard terms.

How to subscribe to Premium Protection in Côte d’Ivoire?

Adding Premium Protection to your Jumia Delivery shipment is simple:

  1. Prepare Your Parcel: As usual, ensure your item is securely packed for shipment.

  2. At the Pickup Station (PUS) / Vendor Drop-Off Point (VDO): When you bring your parcel to your Jumia Pickup Station or Vendor Drop-Off Point for shipping via Jumia Delivery, inform the Jumia agent before your shipment is processed that you wish to opt for Premium Protection.

  3. Declare the Value: The agent will ask you to declare the value of the item(s) being shipped. It is important to provide an accurate value.

  4. Fee Confirmation and Calculation: The agent will confirm the additional fees for Premium Protection. In Côte d’Ivoire, this fee is 1,000 FCFA flat + 5% of the declared value of your item.

  5. Payment: The Premium Protection fee will be added to your total shipping cost and must be paid upfront at the PUS/VDO.

  6. Written Confirmation: Make sure your receipt or shipping document clearly indicates that Premium Protection has been applied to your parcel and shows the declared value.

Important Coverage Details (Premium Protection vs. Standard Shipping):

With Additional Insurance (Premium Protection):
By subscribing to Premium Protection and paying the additional fee, you receive full coverage (100%) in case of parcel loss.
In such cases, Jumia will compensate you up to the lower amount between the declared value and the current value of the item on the Jumia platform.
In case of damage to a returned parcel at the Jumia Pickup Station, you may be entitled to compensation up to 75% of the item’s value, based on its replacement or repair value.

Parcels Without Premium Protection:
For shipments not covered by Premium Protection, compensation in case of loss, damage, or return to sender is limited to twice (2x) the delivery fee.

General Compensation Limit:
Regardless of the type of shipment (with or without Premium Protection), the maximum compensation per parcel is capped at 400,000 FCFA (four hundred thousand CFA francs).
Jumia reserves the right to change this cap at its discretion, with prior notice, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
